Red Pepper Pesto and Gruyere Swirls

With the party season in full swing, it’s essential to have some quick and easy canapés up your sleeve for those unexpected visitors (or even just for nibbling on while watching Elf!). With that in mind, this is one of the simplest and tastiest recipes for quick party food. Enjoy and happy Christmas!

Red Pepper Pesto & Gruyere Swirls


1 sheet puff pastry

A couple of tbsps of red pepper pesto (enough to cover the pastry in a thin layer)

A scattering of grated gruyere (or chedder)

1 egg, beaten (for glazing)


1. Preheat oven to 180 C.

2. Unroll the pastry and spread the pesto on top. Sprinkle the cheese on top of this and roll the sheet back up into a tube shape.

3. Cut 12 rolls, place on a lined baking sheet and flatten slightly. Brush with the beaten egg.

4. Place in a preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until brown.
